Lassitude

So happy new year to everyone!  It feels like 2010 is going to be better than last year, or at least I hope so. I know I havent posted in a while and that mainly has to do with laziness and being sick and blah. Anyway, here are some things I’ve made recently. Enjoy!

I’m starting to actually understand how to use epoxy! I made the tree charm with epoxy, and decided to add some real turquoise to it. I think it’s quite pretty.

I’ve also decided to start hemping again. I hemped for a while during summer and now I have a huge bag full. I love hemping!

A couple days ago I decided to take BART into the city for some cloudy afternoon photos of architecture. I also stuck my “hella” stickers in a couple places, and I have a picture of that as well.

I made a tiny felt ram and a cloud today that I’ve hung from the top of the curtains. I’m thinking about doing this: www.thing-a-day.com, as well as doing the whole “take one self-portrait a day” thing starting with the new year.

So I havent been doing much at all lately mostly because I’ve felt pretty sick and lethargic this past week. I did take full advantage of my sticker machines and have made sticker quotes and stuff. I’ve decided to call it the “Hella” Project, cuz I’m just that awesome. I know that that makes no sense at the moment, but pictures will follow and hopefully it’ll make sense then.?

I’ve also been working on a camouflage scarf for my uncle for christmas and I hope I can finish it before thursday! Today I learned how to epoxy charms and I ended up making a bracelet that I’m very proud of. I drew two pictures: a castle and a Pegasus, and I also cut out bits of very old fabric and make them into charms as well.

I’m most definitely looking forward to making more bracelets!

I also made super good vegan banana walnut muffins. I think they’re the best muffins I’ve made so far.

“The answer is never the answer. What’s really interesting is the mystery. If you seek the mystery instead of the answer, you’ll always be seeking. I’ve never seen anybody really find the answer– they think they have, so they stop thinking. But the job is to seek mystery, evoke mystery, plant a garden in which strange plants grow and mysteries bloom. The need for mystery is greater than the need for an answer.” -Ken Kesey

I went to Martinez the other day with some friends and my dog Scuba, and we went to snake road which is a blocked off highway that is basically a walking path now.

I woke up this morning feeling incredibly rotten, and I still managed to finish a hat. The only hats I know how to make are simple beanies with earflaps, and the hat I made was going to be just another beanie but I made it too wide. And then I figured out how to make a beret style hat! I personally think it’s very cute.

So today I went to meditation which I really enjoyed, and my new plan is to make every Sunday meditation. Also, my friend and I had a nice little photoshoot today, and I’m already pretty done with the after editing and everything. This is my favorite of the day:

good times.

Today has been a very effective day for me. I was able to get a lot of errands done and that felt nice. I was also able to be pretty mindful today as well which I really like. Tonight I made two kinds of vegan cupcakes: red velvetettes and the strawberry which I’ve made before and absolutely love. The strawberry tallcakes are not for my family though, they are for when I go to my first meditation class tomorrow morning. I really hope everyone enjoys them, and hopefully there be at the most 8 of us, cuz I only made 8.

The red velvetettes turned out really well, even though I wasnt a huge fan of them personally. Here’s a couple shots:

So, unfortunately I was just too damn tired to post yesterday, and I’m making it up by posting at least two posts tonight. firstly I’m posting a couple photos from my diana+ camera. I realize that not many people know what medium format cameras are, so let me explain the best I can.

A medium format camera is basically just larger than the often used small format cameras and is smaller than large format cameras, and it takes 120 film instead of regular 35mm. The pictures you shoot on medium format cameras (with 120 film) will be square, not rectangle (like 35mm). A diana+ camera is a super lightweight, toy-looking medium format camera that gets its fair share of awesome effects (these effects are undesirable for some people), such as light leaks, blurs, color leaks, an “old time” look, and distortions. You can go to www.lomography.com to find out more about these super cool cameras.

I took these walking around soma in san francisco with my brother. Notice how the sky comes to life with this camera.

unfortunately my computer is not uploading perfectly so I will post the rest of those later. Yesterday I spent almost the whole day working on a doll I was making (and yes I currently have no life). Finally when i was finished with it my dog Scuba decided to make it his new toy.

Today I made vegan date spice muffins, which are delicious because I am a vegan baking master. Here are some food porn shots. enjoy!

After my first semi-pretentious post yesterday ( and I gotta admit I do feel pretty darn cooler having this blog haha) I thought I would be a little more relaxed today. So here are a couple pictures of lights just for the hell of it.

I’m a bit too tired at the moment but tomorrow I will share some of my writing. I’m far from professional and much closer to amateur in all my endeavors, but sometimes being pretentious is very fun.

temerity

So, I guess I’ll say a few more things about myself and post some pictures as well. Well, I’m 21 years old, and yes I’m legal now, but unfortunatly I can’t act on new profoundly usefull drinking skills. Maybe some day in the future, but definitely not now. Right now I’m working on harnessing my creavity and learning some self-acceptance along the way.

Anyway I’m obssesed with my cameras. I bought my digital panasonic SLR a couple years ago. Now I’m not much of a digital camera person, but I’ve recently been tinkering with my Corel Paint Pro software and have been enjoying messing around with my digitals. My favorite camera of all time is my Diana+ “toy” camera. I absolutely love photoadventureing with it, and playing with light leaks, color leaks, depth, sharpness, and it’s fisheye features. My newest camera i bought is a Russian Fed 2 from the 1950′s (I think). It’s a 35mm fully manual beauty. So far I’ve only shot with it in black and white, but I’ll eventually shoot in color.
